Answer these seven brief questions to find out what size of furnace your house needs.
Furnace size is measured by how many BTUs it uses per hour to achieve a certain temperature increase. BTU (an abbreviation for British Thermal uUnit) is a unit of measurement for energy; it’s the industry standard measurement for the heating efficiency of furnaces.
BTUs are used as an estimate for the amount of energy the equipment will use to heat a space. Because home heating and cooling demands vary greatly, furnaces are available with BTU ratings ranging from 40,000 to over 200,000 BTU. Most furnaces range between 80,000 and 100,000 BTU.
